技術是日立公司于2001推出的液晶面板技術
IPS面板最大的特點就是它的兩極都在同一個面上，而不象其他液晶模式的電極是在上下兩面，立體排列。由於電極在同一平面上，不管在何種狀態下液晶分子始終都與螢幕平行，會使開口率降低，減少透光率，所以IPS應用在LCD TV上會需要更多的背光燈。此外還有一種S-IPS面板屬於IPS的改良型
