Android users should prepare for an explosion in the number of apps
available on Android Market, according to new figures from analytics
firm Flurry.
The company says that it has seen an "unprecedented" 94% increase
in applications being developed using its system between September
and October.
Flurry says this is partly due to its recent partnerships with T-Mobile
and Motorola, but also claims next month's release of the latter's
Droid handset on Verizon is also fuelling developers to start work on
new Android apps.
"iPhone is no longer the only game in town," says president and CEO
Simon Khalaf. "Developers who used to develop only for iPhone are
now adding Android applications to their line up in record numbers."
Flurry now has more than 500 Android developers using its system
in more than 1,500 apps, and has tracked more than 100 million end
user sessions so far.
